*Why Mouth pH Matters

The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral. The ideal pH level in the mouth is slightly acidic to neutral, typically around 6.2 to 7.6. This range supports a healthy balance of microorganisms and protects dental tissues.

• Tooth Decay—When the pH in your mouth drops below 5.5, the environment becomes too acidic, leading to the demineralization of tooth enamel.
